It's just a disturbance

That's what the cop who had just beaten up our next door neighbor in our front yard told Scott. Not lying.

We came back from the grocery store to find our neighbor's brother-in-law (who had been living with them since the hurricane) sitting on the curb in cuffs. We, being good neighbors, took to spying through our blinds to see what was going on. Just as we did, they put him in the cop car and then craziness ensued. Our neighbor started trying to fight them while in the back seat and managed to kick out the window of the cop car (not smart), he then tried to run away and they threw him on the ground. This is how he ended up in our front yard. As they continually told him to lay on his stomach, he continually tried to get up. Not smart. So, they were continually throwing him down, and he was yelling that they had broken his nose etc. It was kind of crazy.

So, more cop cars came (6 total), and there was mayhem for a while as they tried to transfer him to another cop car (it involved lots of punching and kicking on both parts). Once things calmed down a bit Scott went out to make sure there was nothing we needed to worry about. He asked one of the officers if we should be concerned. To this he replied, "It's just a disturbance, go back inside."

Then, they all finally left (after shaking off the remains of the window in front of our house in the street). Scott went out to survey the damage and found lots of glass and blood in our front yard. I guess he really had broken his nose based on teh blood.

So that was our eventful night. And I'm sure everyone in our neighborhood thinks we are some kind of ruffians since it all happened in our yard.
