Hurricane Ike
Just an update for those of you who are wondering. Hurricane Ike passed right over top of where we live. Our house would have been in the eye. We got out of Houston on Thursday under a mandatory evacuation for our area. We made it safely to Dallas after boarding up our house. Unfortunately, Home Depot was limiting board sales due to how many people needed them, so we got all windows boarded with the exception of 2 (the previous owners also left some boards which was a life saver). Those 2 were facing West, so we're hoping they will be ok, but we'll see. We've been fairly glued to the TV and if anyone else is watching, the weather channel has a reporter in Clear Lake which is about 5 minutes from our house. Apparently the worst of it has passed over where we are, but we're still getting a lot of rain. We know that we have no power right now, because we had above ground power lines. We'll try and keep you updated as we find out more.

We are glad you are safe! We have been thinking about you and I wanted to call you yesterday but we figured you were getting things in order to be safe and didn't want to waste your time. We will be checking in on you though.

We checked the Webster city webpage and they said not to return for a while since there's still no power. I guess you could keep checking there for power updates. Have you been able to reach anyone in your neighborhood or from church who could tell you if your home is damaged? So glad you evacuated Thursday. Those who stayed are pretty miserable according to their own words on the news. Stay safe. ARe you getting rain from Ike in Dallas?
